Hello

My question to you all is if I am overclocking my Intel Q6600 from 2.4ghz to 3.0ghz I was hoping to get my ram at 1066mhz. I do not know if this is possible or not but I do appreciate your time in helping me.

You can use a different memory divider to obtain higher ram frequency. It might be called bootstap in your bios.

Well thank you for your reply.

I'm sorry but I don't seem to have bootstap. More specifically what I'm trying to accomplish is when I overclock the CPU's FSB to 333 the ram system memory multiplier automatically turns down to 800mhz . I tried messing with the system memory multiplier (SPD) and then ran prime 95 but the system was not stable; hlaf the time it would start up.

Do you have your memory voltage on manual or auto? If on auto, try to set it to the manufacturers specification. So if you memory requires 2.1 you set it to 2.1 or +.3, 2.2 set it to 2.2 or +.4

Go through the guides. Then go into the BIOS and change the System Memory Multiplier from AUTO to 2.00, 2.00B, or 2.00D - whichever you need to set the Memory Frequency to twice the FSB. Then when you increase the FSB, the memory
clock will rise in step with it. If you are at 3.0 GHz (333 MHz X 9), your memory clock
should be at 667 MHz.

Download CPU-Z to check your FSB:RAM ratio.

Warning - confusion factor between what the BIOS calls things and what CPUZ calls things. What the BIOS calls "memory frequency" is actually the memory clock. What CPUZ calls "memory frequency" is half the memory clock - DDR2 RAM, remember? It transfers two chunks of data each bus cycle. What you want in CPUZ is a 1:1 FSB:RAM ratio.

Overclocking memory doesn't accomplish much besides limiting your CPU overclock where the real speed comes from. We discuss overclocking RAM here:

The G'byte P35 motherboards use 1.8 volts for the default value. So if the recommended factory voltage is 2.1 volts, set the RAM voltage to +.3 volts.

Thank you for your links they had some very helpful information. I had some trouble understanding how the FSB:RAM Ratio worked. On CPU-Z I have a 5:6 ratio at 399.6 MHz. From what I read it is not the best ration because your looking for more of a 1:1 ratio. These are settings in bios

From what I gathered my Memory Frequency is actually multiplied by 2 so my setting in bios is 800:800. This means that My Ram is only running at 800MHz. (I think)
I have everything up to par right now it is just I have 8 gigs of DDR2 1066 but with my CPU overclock it bumps it down. I have a hard time understand and for that I am sorry but from everything I have read it just did not see what I need to see. I just don't know what I am doing wrong.

If you are at 3.0 GHz (333 X 9), your RAM clock (as defined by the BIOS) should be 667 MHz. for 1:1.

What "Memory Frequency 399.6 MHz (5:6) " is telling you is that your FSB is running at 333 MHz and your memory is running at the SPD defined value of 400 MHz memory speed as defined by CPUZ.

Change the System Memory Multiplier from [Auto] to [2.00]. That should fix that. Then, if you have practically anything better than the stock cooler, you should be able to increase the FSB to 367 MHz for 3.3 GHz with little more than a small increase in vcore.

I realize this is probably way more information then you need but what I am mainly looking at now is the Memory Frequency at 367.0 MHz. I realize its double data rate so the speed is actually at 734.0 MHz. Now the CPU is very fast like you said it's 3.30 GHz. I ran memtest 86, the ram had no errors.

I try running Prime95 but it stops and it can not complete. I am sure this means that I have an unstable system? I might be doing something wrong, if i am please let me know.

Overclocking is great but why does your ram have to be so slow? I actual have DDR2 Corsair Dominator PC2-8500C5 1066 MHz.

Is there a way I can overclock my CPU and still get the same speed of 1066 MHz on my ram. Again Thank you from your time and effort in helping me, really thank you.
