Hi i have an old system with e5300 cpu and i plan to upgrade it to q6600 but would it be worth?
intel Q6600
4gb ddr2 ram (400mhz)
gtx 1050 2gb?

would it run newer games with 60 fps on the lowest or no?

Solution
Personally, I wouldn't do it. Even the Q6600 is an old CPU, and it will likely hold back many modern GPUs. A Q6600 will hold back even older GPUs, never mind the latest technology. It will depend on the game, I.e. Fallout is much more CPU intensive, and the Q6600 would not keep up at all. Other applications it might just cope. Overclocking is always on option, but even then you're likely to struggle in many newer games considering the age of the Q6600.

It will be OK in a few applications, but I really wouldn't recommend it, especially not for newer games. Additionally many modern games call for 8GB RAM nowadays too, and this number is increasing.

Me I say as long as you can overclock the core 2 quad to at least 3 Ghz it's something, sure if you have the option to spend a bunch more money please do so as it will be a far better experience, but thge q6600 @ 3Ghz will be fine wiith the q6600 @3Ghz

The 7970 slightly slower than the gtx 680, the 1050 is a bit slower than the two of those cards and you can see it works out just fine

all in all a new pentium g4xxx will smash this when paired with a 50 doilar motheboard and 40 dollars worth of ram

if the q6600 is free or like 20 bucks and you already have a decent cool then yeah sure, otherwise maybe save your money
