Hello everyone,

This is my first build and overclock, my aim is stable at 3.00 GHz which I'm pretty sure should be achievable. At the moment I'm not too sure about the System Memory Multiplier even after reading several guides. So I thought the best thing to do would be to post the settings I'm trying to use and see what you think. With these settings it won't POST and reverts to the old settings after two unsuccessful boots. Anyway, here are my specs:

CPU: Q6600 G0 version

Motherboard: Gigabyte EP45-UD3R rev. 1.0 (updated to F9 BIOS)

Memory: 8GB (4 x 2GB) Kingston Kingston HyperX DDR2 1066MHz Dual Channel

Attached are screenshots from the bios with the settings I'm trying to use.

CPU Host Frequency x CPU Clock Ratio = 333 x 9 = 3.00

(G)MCH Frequency Latch = 333MHz

System Memory Multiplier (SPD) = 3.20 B
Memory Frequency (Mhz) 800 1066

CPU Vcore: 1.45000V (Max for Q6600 is 1.50000)

DRAM Voltage: 2.100V

The memory is supposed to run at 5 - 5 - 5 - 15 2.1 V (sorry screenshot is outdated I have the timings set correctly manually)

Are there any other settings I should change or am I doing this completely wrong?

Thanks!

CPU voltage is much too high. Most G0 Q6600's will run at 3.0 GHz on stock or little more that stock voltage.

I have the system memory multiplier set on 2.0 - twice FSB freq, half FSB clock.

Change System Memory Multiplier (SPD) to 2.00a or 2.40b. Also change CPU Vcore: 3.250. That should be just fine. If not slowly increase vcore until system is stable. If nothing works take out a couple sticks of ram. I have same cpu and mb and this worked for me. Best of luck.
