Q6600 G0 P5E OC

I would like to maximize my current setup, and I'm not sure I'm taking advantage of my components.

Currently I am running a Q6600 G0 VID:1.3250v at 375FSB x 9.0 Multi. My current ambient temperature in my room is 22c. My core temps idle are 40c, 42c, 35c, 35c. My load temps with Prime 95 are 70c, 70c, 65c, 65c. Vcore at idle 1.41v. Vcore at load is 1.352v. Extremely well ventilated case, using Zalman 9700 heatsink all fans are 100% all the time.

Mobo settings are :
Vcore: 1.45
CPU PLL Voltage: 1.80
FSB Termination:1.28
NB Voltage : 1.27
SB Voltage 1.125
Loadline Calibration : Auto
CPU GTL REF: Auto
NB GTL REF: Auto
SB 1.5v Voltage: Auto
CPU AND PCIE Spread Spectrum: Disabled

Memory Settings are : 1gb x 4
600.1 Mhz x 2

I would like to maximize the memory capabilities and the FSB. I see some people upping FSB to 1.45 but on a different chipset. By just upping the Vcore I cannot get 3.6 at 400 FSBx9. Maybe my settings are incorrect. I dont know what CPU PLL is nor NB voltage settings or SB.

I would appreciate any help here.

by the temp you have i dont think you can really get 3.6Ghz out of it.70C being the max limit(general 65C) i would call it safe.

but you can try always.you are lucky you got load line calibration.lower you multiplier to 8 and up the FSB to 425.and up the FSB termination and NB voltage up 2 notches each.and get the memory to sync to FSB or the lowest available in BIOS.and have ram voltage on 2.1V.if it fail to boot or prime just up the CPU voltage notch by notch for every fail attempt.if the vcore upto 1.5 and still fail up the FSB termination up further.

the expert on this chipset and CPU is Lupiron.i will get him to drop by and help you out.

I think so also... the heatsink can move if i twist it as well, I don't think my dad set it up right. I might just lapp both soon and remount with a spacer. It seems way too high for what i see other people getting.

I also have a xigmatek cooler in a box and a few ultra kaze fans. I may even give that a shot but it will be a pain in the ass to remove the zalman bracket and the xigmatek doesnt look as cool lol. on another note: when i touch my memory its hot so i bought a fan. However the zalman never seems to even get warm. I'm really thinking the contact must be really bad. It should heat up right? Thats the whole point of the system isnt it?

What are these values?
CPU PLL Voltage: 1.80 I just raised it for no reason. I don't even know what it does. Could this be the reason why its running hot?
FSB Termination:1.28 Again no idea.
NB Voltage : 1.27 Raised this slightly but don't know what it should be set at.
SB Voltage 1.125 < mobo set this.

no the zalman 9700LED's top doesnt get hot if you touch it.its normal.because the heat already gets extracted before it does get to the top of the cooler.

Great! Waiting on my P5N 72 - T! And my xiggy cooler, so I can ditch this silent square. You guys dont really need PLL unless trying for above normal FSB or other requirement where the board chipset is stressed.

It's also wise to leave FSB termination voltage alone unless trying for a difficult over clock.

Gotta mail some E Bay junk out in a few as well!

You might try noting your settings and defaulting to stock. Then measure your temps and compare them against known temps to get a base line.

That's rather hot for stock speeds on a Q6600, especially with that Zalman. As iluvgillgill has said, something isn't right. I'm guessing uneven contact surface. Perhaps you could try lapping?

Actually the reason why i been gone is because thats exactly what i did. the problem is its about 32c in my room right now. current oc 3.4ghz with these temps 45 47 39 42. so about 13c over ambient temperature. I just turned on the AC becuase its 7 pm and its still **** 90f in my room. I actually used a new paste this time, OCZ Freeze, and i actually remounted the clip bracket which attaches to the motherboard and then resecured the heatsink, now it doesnt even wiggle.

At night my temperatures are around 38 36 32 30. thats about 70f ambient or cooler.

Okay right now been under load for about 5 minutes its very stable temp at 66 66 60 60. Reseating seemed to make a difference considering how **** hot it is in my room right now.

That sounds about right for those speeds and ambient temps. What's the load temp right now?
