Q6600 G0 - Which motherboard won't require a BIOS update?

Hello there Im new here!

I'm getting a Q6600 G0 for the new PC Im getting but Ive read that many motherboards need a BIOS update, which I really would rather not do, plus I only will have the one CPU.

Does anyone know of any mobos that will definately work with the G0 stepping, preferably nForce 680??

Any help would really be appreciated!!

if you're going for vista, dw about avoiding BIOS updates it does it automatically on the desktop, nice and simple.

XP im not sure about atm.

nforce680 DO need a BIOS update, its very easy to do though.

So to update the BIOS I wouldnt need an already working CPU first?

You wont need a BIOS update to make it WORK, but it sure helps it out, it helped my stability tons.

Hi,

my friend got an Asus P5B and a Q6600 G0 last month.

The mb posted but with a "unknow cpu id" warning at first screen.

He later updated the bios via windows xp without problem.

Right, No Bios upgrade required to make it function.
Just to help ensure it runs optimally.
