has this happened to anyone? in the bios i have it at 9x333 so it puts me at 3ghz. its a very mild OC.

and when I go into cpuz it switches from 6x to 9x. All my games run great, its just this little thing that kinda bothers me, why is it throttling down? I have all the junk in the bios disabled.

please advise..

i got a gigabyte ga-x48-ds4 board.

thanks

if you have speedstep on, and it runs fine with it on, there is no reason to take it off though, as it will save you a bit on the electrical bill

Like the other 3 people said, you gots the speeds steps going on. It is throtteling the cpu down when it is not needed to run at full speed. Thus giving you power savings.

It is not bad to leave that enabled, it will help on your electric bill. But it really wont change that much if you disable speed step.

well, i guess its a good thing that is on, due to the fact i could use a break on my electric bill, an 1100w psu will do some damage.

My Q6600 switchs between 6X and 9X (~2.0 and 3.0ghz). This is kind of a neat power saving feature (speed step)? Also, it goes to sleep when no one is in front of it and it wakes when I move the mouse. I don't know if it is Vista 64 and/or the motherboard which provides these power saving features, but I would not dream of disabling them.

ok.. we have officially figured out the issue.

If you are reading this thread and would like to post about how it is speed step, please read the 7 posts which says its speed step.

Uh, maybe it's EIST/C1E.

Only if your hardware is pulling 1100W. Actually, since you probably aren't running tri-SLI, the PSU's efficiency at your typical load will probably not be doing your power bill much good.
