Im trying to get a stable overclock with my q6600 but for some reason its not workin. I went to 3 ghz and 3.2 ghz at safe temps. I tried different voltages ranging from 1.3-1.4. Non seemed to be stable. Heres my specs:

xfx 680i lt
q6600
4 gbs corsair xms2 6400
8600gts(soon upgrading to gtx260)
650 watt real power pro cool master
zalman 9500 heatsink
antec 900 case

My temps when oc to 3.0 its 36 C on first 2 cores and 27 on last 2 cores
When 3.2 40 and 32 idle.

680i boards generally don't overclock that well. XFX boards are basically reference boards, which is why they pretty much look like EVGA boards. Anyway make sure you're disabling things like Speed Step when you overclock it.

Your idle temps are not really of any importance. Please post load temps. If your overclock is not stable, you increase the voltage... Above 1.4 if needed.

Sorry but I have to agree.
The 680i is a terrible overclocker.

Things you can try in order to get it stable...
Give the CPU more voltage.
Give the Northbridge more voltage.
Give the Southbridge more voltage.
Test your memory with Memtest and, if it fails, give the memory more voltage/relax the timings.

Keep an eye on the temps.
They should never go over 75c load.
Best luck getting it more stable.

at load on prime95 the highest is like 60 C. Im not upgrading my mobo thou until the future when i really need to. Ill try to increase voltages. also a tech guy at a stoei know told me it was my graphics card. I think it kinda is becuase once i oc'ed and when i booted my graphics card was like running. I went to display settings and it said it was using my monitor graphics. I then put it back to stock and it was fine. i have 8600 gts

i think you should drop your 680i or actually live with it.i think thats enough laugh and run from people who are here.

they are not bad mobo if you run it in stock and they offer alot of features.Overclocking??not one of them!

oh heck, I'm only running my q6600 at 3.2 ghz 400x8 memory in which the fsb is pumped up to 1600 with my voltage at 1.296v according to cpu-z memory set at 2.0v temp currently at 32c all on a Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L because my Asus P5N32E-SLI 680i motherboard couldn't handle the mild overclock. CPU fan is a OCZ Vanquisher I got on special from Microcenter for $15.00 back in September. I still have EIST and C1E enabled with no side effects too. I had set my cpu v for 1.35v.
