q6600 vid 1.2875 OC

Hello and sorry if this question has been asked before many times....

What is considered the max safe voltage for a q6600 with a vid of 1.2875.

I currently have it @ 3.33ghz with a voltage of 1.35. I know that some ppl go up to insane voltages, but are those chips with a vid of 1.325?....can the chips with a vid of 1.325 cope with higher voltages?

i have read reviews where some go to extreme vids and others do not,,but the general idea seems to be able to get the " mostest for the leastest"
after all why spend/use more power than you have to??:>)

"VID" is the voltage in which your processor is suppose to run stable at stock speeds. Mother boards read that value, so when on Auto, or default settings, your computer will run properly. A q6600 can technically handle 1.5 volts actual (cpuz). But that's like saying my car can go 150 mph, so it's ok to pin it all the time.

The problem is (LOL), the core2 architecture has only been out for around two years, so no one not even the white coats at Intel can say how long an overclocked q6600 will last. I personally take the safe route, by keeping voltages below 1.4 and heat generally below 60c.

I don't think I have seen anyone say that they have their CPU volted at anything over 1.45v for any real reason. I have mine at 1.3750 and its at 4ghz. In all honesty, I can probably drop it a little...it just seems to be pretty stable at that setting and I haven't really messed much with it since I did it.

It is best not to go over 10% from the stock voltage for longevity of the processor.

Hi everyone... rubix_1011... Your q6600 is at 4Ghz??? Thats freaking amazing!! Would u mind sharing the settings u used?? Mine has a VID of 1.3000v and I have mine at 3.6 24/7..
