Q6600 vs X3330

Hi

I'm planning to build my own workstation but I don't know which processor I should choose, a Q6600 or a X3330.

Currently the Q6600 costs € 165,- and the X3330 is priced at € 188,04 . So which wil give me the best bang for the buck?
I'm planning to overclock them a bit, but I don't know how far the X3330 will go.

I hope you guys can help me

Well the Q6600 is known for its OCing potential. Easy OC to 3Ghz. But the X3330 is a 45nm quad so it may be a better choice since it has SSE4.1 and such.

Personally I would go with the Q6600 and up it to 3GHz and be set.

I have also the option to buy a X3370 (the xeon version of the Q9650) for € 269,89, but is it worth the extra € 100,- when I will overclock them?

Xeon cpus have their memory prefecters off, just so you know.

I never heard of that, what are memopry prefecters? And will that have a big effect? (positive or negative?)

It enables the cpu to fetch data from the hdd or ram before its needed. Im guessing but it wont affect performance much, probably less than 1%
