I'm running a Q6600 B3 with a thermalright ultra 120 w/ scythe s-flex fan. I have been running this computer at 3.0ghz @1.3125. (VID is 1.3). I decided to try to push it a little further now since the value has gone down.

I'm running 3.2ghz @1.4125. Temps under prime95 using coretemp are 64 on two cores and 54 on the other two.

Is this temperature safe? How high of a vcore is safe?

Edit: Anyone want to show your settings if using a gigabyte p35 board?

I might try lapping the 120 and maybe the processor. I still have sand paper from lapping a 212+.

Going for 3.4-3.6, I have the vcore set in the bios @ 1.45.

In cpu-z during Prime95 the vcore only says 1.312. Is it just me or is that a huge vdrop? Btw temps at 67,67,57,57.

I suppose your 10C difference in temperature is ok...but it probably means your thermal paste isn't covering all your cores equally. It's up to you if it matters to you. I usually only see a 2-3C difference in cores.

I'm thinking its been so long since I applied the AS5 some of it might have dried up.

I have the Q6600 also, not OC and paired with a XIGMATEK HDT-S1283. When I had my old case I had the fan on the heatsink blowing out the back with a 80mm rear fan. In my new case I have a top opening so I switched the orientation of the hsf so the heatsink's fan blows from the bottom and the 200mm fan is pulling from the top. I found this even out the temperatures in the 4 cores, now I only see about a 1-2 C difference whereas before I was seeing about up to 10 C (temps while idle). I'm thinking with my older case the heat was building up near the top so those two cores were a wee bit warmer then the lower two?
