So here is my dilemma and wanted to get some opinions on upgrading my system. I'm seeing some really great deals on the i5 2500K and mobos. I was initially shopping for 8GB of matched DDR2 RAM by Gskill which runs about $150 (upgrading from 4gb)...I'm just thinking it may be worth upgrading to new system so I can buy the DDR3 RAM; its super cheap, and not waste that $150 on the ddr2.
............Here is my current system.........
Intel Q9550 (OC 3.4ghz)
EVGA 750i FTW mobo
4 GB Corsair DDR2 800 (4-4-4-12)
Nvidia GTX 470
Raptor 150gb 10,000rpm HD
.............System I'd be upgrading to.......
Intel i5 2500K
Asus P8Z68-V 1155 ATX mobo
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB DDR3 1600 (8-8-8-24)
Nvidia GTX 470
Raptor 150gb 10,000rpm HD
Will I see a significant performance increase in the new i5 system? Or should I just upgrade to 8GB RAM in my current system and wait a year for the new processors/mobos? I primarily play MMO's and games on the system.
I just feel I am bottlenecked somewhere on my current system....doesn't seem to run to its potential. It's gotta be the RAM, I personally thought it was a pretty good build. (though never again would I buy an nvidia mobo)
Thanks in advance for your input.
