Hi I have a rig, found some cheap Q6600 and Q9550
My mobo is P41T-C31
Which one is better in general with OC, which one is better with my mobo ?
The price difference is 24$

Solution
Several P45 motherboards would, but you should be able to overclock a Q6600 G0 to 3.0 GHz (or even a bit higher) on your motherboard; the Q9550 overclocks as well as the Q6600 and it runs cooler. In other words, even if you could overclock a Q9550 to only 3.4 GHz, it would still be faster than a Q6600 at 3.6 GHz and you have zero guarantee the Q6600 will run that fast.
i might buy the q6600 + cooler bundle and just get a better mobo for OC. If i do that i will be able to set a 2nd rig for my baby brother. What mobo can push Q6600 to 3.2-3.6 and be compatible with the Cooler in the bundle ?

Yes, but the fastest cpu even at stock is going to need more volts and more vcore right out of the box.

No it will not. It actually uses less voltage do to core revisions, The voltage only remains around the same level due to the additional l2 cache on the q9550 being 12MB vs 8MB on the q6600

q6600 65nm 1.2625v
q9550 45nm 1.25v
