but now the price of the Q9550 is down
and the different between them is like 60$
Q9550 is like 415$ and the Q9450 is like 360$[not exactly]

well the prices on the Q9550 just dropped on newegg.

it's 339$ compared to 329$ for the Q9450

the Q9550 is stock at 2.83ghz, and has an increased multiplier of .5x making it 8.5x

the Q9450 is 2.66ghz at stock, and has a multiplier of 8x

so basically, you get a faster processor at stock speed, and it has higher capabilities to OC. for a 10$ difference but i'm sure the price of the Q9450 will fall soon.

I wonder...how much faster will the 2.66 Ghz Nehalem coming this year for $284 will be than the Q9550 at 2.83 Ghz or even the direct competitor of Q9450 at 2.66 Ghz. I guess it all goes to how much more performance will the dropped FSB make. I can't wait to see!

I'm not so sure the price of the Q9450 will really drop since Intel is discontinuing the CPU.

You may find them on sale here or there briefly (Fry's would be a good place to look for this), but I suspect they will not fall much.

But It is a no brainer to grab the Q9550 for $10 more.

You count the Scotts?! [/kidding. Too much Braveheart]

[ontopic] I would pay $10 for an extra 0.5 multi /probably higher binned part. Unfortunatey, I had to settle for 9450 'cause it was more like $50 when I was buying.
