Am looking to upgrade to a I7 soon but want to do some reading weather i will see a improvement in performance. I Mainly use my pc for high end gaming and wont everything to run on max. if i dont see a improvement then theirs no need to upgrade and i will keep saving my money.
MY system

Q9650 @4.1ghz
Corsair 1066mhz
Asus 5870 CF

Is there some reviews that i can look at to see what % performance there is.

Will i see a improvement if i was to say buy a asus rampage II and buy faster ram. Or wait to see what else comes along. How long before my Cpu start to show its age? I mean now where in the HD gaming

Q9650 is only a hair better than the Q9550 which is on par with PII-955 and so Q9650 will bottleneck 2xHD4870, let alone 2xHD5870.

i7+2xHD4870 beats PII-955+2xHD4890 => PII-955(which is on par with Q9550) will bottlenecke 2xHD4870, let alone 2xHD5870.

However, do you really need 2x HD5870 for merely gaming?

I'd imagine you'll be good for at least another year or two. That processor at 4.1ghz is fast.

I'd bet it'll push next gen multi gpu setups without issue.
