It produces superb results but has a highly original GUI (I.e. It baffles
the hell out of people until they figure out how it's supposed to work).

The sharpening and up-scaling algorithms are excellent and the
auto-positioning routines make printing multiple images on a page a piece
of cake. There's lots of image processing stuff that's superfluous if you
use Photoshop, however. I, and many others, only use a fraction of the
program's features.

The price is good, especially considering that it includes free lifetime
updates. Updates are frequent, some would say too frequent, but are
released immediately into the wild rather than being subject to beta
testing. This can sometimes lead to new versions being buggy. Bug fixes
are also swift, however, so keeping an eye on the QImage Yahoo group means
you don't have to wait long before hearing about a release that's safe to
install.

If you do buy it, and join the Yahoo group, note that suggesting that
QImage might not be perfect and/or that Mike Chaney is just a human being
and not a programming god will cause the true believers to descend on you
like a ton of bricks. There are some very helpful people on the group,
though, so you can usually get a useful response to any requests for help.

You can download a trial version from the DDI Software Web site, but I'd
strongly recommend reading the extensive tutorial* before trying to use
it.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not sure how much good it will do given that I
am generally up front with my opinions, hostile environment or not .
