Qn on new gaming pc

Hi

I am looking to upgrade my existing pc to a new one for 1440p gaming for AAA titles like Warhammer 2, GTA V, witcher3

Would like to seek your opinion on whether this is a worthwhile system to get especially on the cpu.

Current:
i5-2500
8 gb ddr2 ram
gtx 970

To buy:
Ryzen 5 2600
16 gb ddr4 ram
gtx 1080

you know a new motherboard/psu is needed too, right? Also a monitor.
On specs itself, yes any modern CPU will be fine for 1440p 60fps, but for 144 fps if desired, I5-8600k is needed. 2600 can do ~100+ fps but hard to reach 144 for CPU demanding titles.
