i3 is fine. Most games are optimized for 2 cores but are able to use 4 cores. the i3 can have 4 threads but only two cores. However, I don't think we are going to see minimum requirements of quad core CPUs for a long long time. An I-5 will definitely perform better but the i3 can meet gaming PC goals for budget builds.

This combo should do you well. It stays within your budget, and will out-perform the i3 in games.

The advantage to having the i3, is that the newer ones are on the 1150 socket, which supports up to an i7 4790K (including the i5 4690K, which is considered by most to be the best gaming CPU). So there is a better upgrade path. Now the i3 will also slightly out perform the 6300 in SINGLE threaded applications. But pretty much all software use multiple threads now. Games are already using more than 4 cores. So you can count on them using 8 and beyond in the future.

It only makes sense to me to get a less expensive more powerful CPU. Unless you plan to upgrade your CPU in the future. Then the i3 makes more sense since the upgrade path on that socket is much better. The best CPU you can get on the AM3+ socket is the 8350. They make the 9370 and the 9590, but they are just essentially overclocked 8350's with a few little tweaks. I wouldn't buy one.

So what do you actually suggest? Core i3 or AMD because i have been dissapointed by an AMD earlier

To be honest, i would still go with a core i3....
I prefer to stick to intel
I m not that much of a gamer, just would hardly spare time once in a week and also a 30 fps from low to med would do just fine for me

Lol leave, i am going for an i5 :p

I didn't know you could up your budget to the i5. That's an obvious choice if you have the money. You told me you only had $163 for a motherboard and CPU. The cheapest i5 starts at about $175.

I am not at all being rude buddy,
Well yes!
Just yesterday i got my core 2 duo fried due to noob overclocking, i was little upset about it at tons of my stuff are out there, so i am currently being forced to use my old Pentium 4 CPU by connecting my hard disk
This all has frustrated me
Anyways i have to adjust with this pentium 4 for few more months so in meanwhile i would wait for little more time to gather enough bucks for a reliable processor so i chose i5-4440 which seems to me the best deal
Dual cores are soon going to be outdated withing a couple of years so i would just wait for little more time for core i5 4440( hope it doesnt get discontinued by that time)
Thanx anyways
