Hello guys, thanks for jumping here.
Its more like asking for a suggestion than a question but a same time it is a question xD (sorry for confusing) :D

So, i have a lga 775 PC which i use & i am going for a cpu upgrade. My current processor is Intel Pentium Dual Core E5400.
So before, i was going to buy a Quad Core Q9500 or Q9400 but i thought that i should do a more research before buying.I compared Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 with Q9400 & it shows that Core 2 Duo has a better single core performance than the Q9400 & the Q9400 has better multi core performance. As Windows OS does'nt use all the cores, i think i will not get better performance in OS.

But i am more into gaming & i do alot of multi tasking in which Core 2 Quad will be better i think.Overall i want a Fast PC with a good gaming & multi tasking performance.

Which should i buy?

Solution
surprisingly enough Q9550 are twice the price of a Q9400 (us base info), that would be the way I would go if I was you.. I was running a Q8400 and running a Q9400 and there is a visible difference in how things move.

For fast PC with a good gaming & multi tasking performance I would suggest the C2Quad. I've owned both as well as the C2Quad Q9650 but I found that when I needed more from the system (more cores) the E8400 was much slower overall.
Hope this helps.

I owned the q9550 2.83ghz with 12mb cache. It is a very good option for multitasking and for gaming too. It is a very good upgrade from e5400 belive me, u will notice the difference.

Agree u will notice an improvement on both Q8400 or Q9400 from E5400. Both are 1333Mhz fsb vs the e5400 wich is 800Mhz and have more L2 Cache.
