Advise - Don't bother with Quad SLI

Advise - 1920-1080 single monitor - Don't bother with Quad SLI

ok so that means, one is enough for single monitor

@ Phishy, can't you answer the OP questions directly ?

@ OP, no 990X wouldn't bottleneck the 590s SLI, don't believe me ? check the following review and test environment
http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-590-sli-review/
if you're going 590 SLI you'll need a 1200W PSU
if you will run just 1 monitor @ 1080P, a single GTX 590 will do the job perfectly

That would really depend on the game. It would bottleneck a game that only utilizes 2 cores.

Haha, I see. Well, what I am saying is, if he is planning to play games that only use 2 cores, it would. Some modern games such as CoD:BO only use DX9, and that is a VERY modern game.

those games are the majority of games that GPU intensive and i can't see anything needing that kind of CPU power except some games "BF3" is one of them as claimed, i've not played the Beta on my 6 core yet. so he should be fine.
techpowerup used the 965X in their test and they stated no bottleneck or issues while runnig the HD 6990s CF, GTX 590s SLI

EDIT: games today are more GPU dependent and a powerful CPU such as i7 2600K can easily handle the massive date between the GPUs and translate every pixel as it should be

see the following link, the guy has a 4-way GTX 580 SLI, i7 990X @ 5.0 GHz and he got 43 FPS while running metro 2033 with 3 monitors setup.

i guess he could achieve better if he had i7 2600K with good overclocks or unleashed a 12 Core AMD Opteron on a server board

Obviously you don't get what I am saying. Most games will not be affected, some will. Just putting it out there.... If you will only play games that use more than 2 cores, fine, go ahead, but if he is not, the it would. You can't tell me I am, wrong about it bottlenecking some games, because I am right. Maybe not newer ones, but still modern games. (some modern ones though)
