is there really a need for phones with a quadcore a 2gb of ram i mean really, there phones the htc onex and the new lg have tegra2 quadcores in them. on a normal pc you dont need a quadcore to do more than a phone would even at 1.4ghz i think there clocked at thats still overkill for a phone no?

Don't need them, but my phone could use more horse power for some applications I run, no need to run them on the phone but why not.

I still have a dual core phone, but I'll be upgrading to a quad soon as I can run Ubuntu off it when docked, it'll be an amazing device.

yeah I wouldn't mind haveing a dual core in my Xperia PLAY because I would like to play a few more games with better FPS like GTA III, but I would also like a bit better processor and RAM because unused apps are always open even though FB may not be connected to the internet or even if I shut them they just re open, it only has 400MB at the moment (I think) so about 1GB would be good

do you mean tegra 3 because tegra 2 is a dual core
plus wont quad core phones drain battery? also why would you even need a quad core on your phone unless you try to use your phone as a server, 3d rendering or trying to play more than one game at once?
