Hi,

Just got a workstation with two quadro FX1800 cards in it. Only option available regarding SLI, is SLI multiview. From what I can find, this is only for using multiple monitors and NOT for using two GPUs for processing a single application on a single monitor.
Multiview: http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro_sli_multiview.html

Is this correct?

I know the FX1800 does not come with an SLI bridge, but some hinted that it could theoretically run SLI through the motherboard instead.
I have no use for multiview, as I only have one monitor at work anyway. So I would like to know if the two GPUs actually work "together" or not, if I only use one monitor?

Any feedback will be much appreciated!

I took a quick look at the Nvidia Quadro SLI page and it appears that you really can't SLI the FX1800 like you can other GeForce and Quadro models (SLI requires a bridge and has no equivalent mode to CrossFireX which can CF via the PCI-E bus).

So, as I read the info, you can do the multi-monitor stuff, but that seems to be it.

I actually hope I am wrong. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. I'm kinda glad you got the same idea from the nvidia page, it means I'm not going insane. Even in the quadro driver, there is no SLI configuration option under my nvidia control panel, as is shown to be available on SLI capable cards.

Such a waste of money...

I'm not in a position where I get to make those decisions at work... However, I did get an extra monitor after pointing out one of the cards were not being used on that account, so it's not all bad.
