Quake 3 on wireless LAN

I have a Linksys BEFW11S4 router. Trying to play a lagless game with 2 pcs, one wired to router, the other is wireless. Anyway, the ping is good, but every ~3 minutes there's a spike in lag for the person conected wirelessly, and that person can't move for ~5 seconds. What is it with the BEFW11S4 that's causing this to happen, and how can it be fixed?

I would try upgrading the firmware. I also use one for gaming and the latest firmware is working good.

Disable Windows Wireless Zero Configuration utility and run the drivers and utility that come with the card.

I was running the latest firmware. Seems like disabling Windows Wireless Zero Configuration utility helped. But the utilities that came with WUSB11 (Linksys Wireless USB adapter) don't work without Windows Wireless Zero Configuration, it's like they're blind.
