Quake ruined Halo for me, in a good way. I couldn't tolerate the sluggishness and lack of precision.
I remember playing Quake 3 Arena in college and it took me a long time to realize why my eyes stung and got watery as I played--I NEVER blinked. Had I done that intentionally, I'd call myself brilliant, but it was only a survival reflex. Blinking gets you killed.
I'd appreciate some critique and constructive criticism on this new Quake. It seems like I've just been reading preemptive damage control about it. Even this article comes across that way. I get the impression the developers are operating within a bubble, and somebody desperately needs to burst it before another Battleborn-like disappointment gets released.

And i remember the yeti from your avatar, one of the first hated characters in a game for me .
On topic, i m a big fan of Quake series and this is a great news for me. Hardly wait
