Quake III custom resolution problem

Hey guys.

I'm trying to run Quake III arena demo in steam at 21:9 3440x1440. I've got the custom resolutions set in the q3config file at:

seta r_customwidth "3440" seta r_customheight "1440" r_mode "-1" with fov of "115".

It seems to go to a 21:9 perspective but the game window is only small, covering less than a quarter of the screen with the other windows tabs and desktop background showing on the other 3/4. Any one had this working in 21:9 ultrawide before? Any help would be great, Thanks

just may not be supported that game was from back in the good old CRT analog monitor days so whats common res today was not back then

a few of my older games like from that era I still got to run at analog res. like 1024x768 ?

if me I would just play at the best native res it supports and fits the screen properly
