This has been aground forever if you had the right equipment and router OS.
DDWRT on older Linksys routers allowed you to assign one antennae for broadcast and one antennae for receive.
This almost doubled throughput and cut down latency since the radio portion did not have to switch between send receive modes.
I still use one in my library to extend wireless to the TV there and the bedroom.
