Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus: Specs, release date, benchmarks, and more

I hope you folks get to review one soon, because the slide claiming GPU performance is crazy.

We already know that it hits a smooth 1080p 30fps with medium setting in Baulder's Gate 3, but we also know that Z1 Extreme (7840U) can do the same with slightly higher settings.

If they're targeted for high end systems first then they're going to flop, since the M3 Macbook Air and Pro are already well established in that segment and have proven performance. They need to target them at the sub $750 market, undercutting the MacBook Air, moving great volumes for students, travelers, and other segments, and proving Windows On Arm and Snapdragon are viable, then they can go after the $1000+ market.

It’s wildlife extreme. It’s a mobile benchmark that Qualcomm and Intel both have heavily optimized for. Everybody knows the AMD iGPU beats both in real games.

remember when M2 was going to kill iGPU and dGPU laptops?
https://www.tomshardware.com/news/a...ore-cpu-10-core-gpu-up-to-18-more-performance
and MSI Claw with intel chip was going to kill SteamDeck and the like?
let's wait and see real world performance.

The CPU itself is cheap .. what makes APPLE expensive are the hig end components in it , like 6 Speakers and 4 MIC plus the screen and body of the notebook.

I am really waiting for apple to release "student" version of their MACS ,Plastic body and two speakers only and one Mic ...this would lower the MAC air price by $300 at least. and I dont know Why Apple is ignoring tis market. they made "SE" Iphone , and they should make SE MAC AIR.

Not at a presumed 20 watts though
That's uhh, not my point?
Take a look at the graph
IDK what garbage laptop Qualcomm used to test the 7940HS on, but if you pump 60w into the 12CU GPU, it's not going to run that slow.

Yup, MSI Claw turned out to run SLOWER than Ally Z1 extreme, despite what early rumors suggested.
In fact, MSI Claw performance and battery run times lookl bad compared to Steamdeck OLED.

I'm shocked a 10 core cpu beats an 8 core cpu in multi core scores (X Plus vs M3).

When you compare equal core counts it looks like the X Elite is about on par with an M3 Pro (15,610 vs 15,683 respectively).

The NPU performance of 45 TOPS should be mentioned that is for Int8 performance.
Most older chip performance is measured by Int16 performance, this is part of the apparent large jump in performance to this new SnapDragon X Plus/Elite

And has similar performance while the M3 Pro has 6 Efficiency Cores + 6 Performance Cores vs the 12 Performance Cores in the X Elite.

WRONG! Yes apple adds on a bunch of gidgets and gadgets that make things stupid expensive (looking at your thunderbolt) but its not the parts that are expensive... its expensive because they know they can charge it... apple literally owns their entire ecosystem... they make everything as closed sourced like as possible so that they can control their market because they have a massive enough following people will solely buy it for the name and know no better... perfect example? Iphone 12 and Samsung Galaxy or that gen... Both came out roughly at the same time... both touted new and vastly improved chips and storage solutions (apple even diud nvme based storage on the iphone 12) But the iphone 12 pro max cost smoething stupid like $1400-$1600 dpeneding on storage at launch ( know cuz i got one)... The Galaxy was $999... iphone claimed it has superior parts... the fact was samsung had it beat in hardware perfomrance by MILES! The benchmarks in reallife prove it too...but noi one was none the wiser

Apple has literally made a living off doing this crap... look at those stupid lightning connectors... they said they made em cuz they wanted to devleop- their own standard...that literally never happened.. it STAYED using plain usb 2.0... thats what made me the most mad about the iphone 12... it had nvme storage.. it had 5g (i literally tested speeds up to 3.8gbps near my local mmwave tower down the road from my apt...yet it was still using stupid usb 2 stuck at speeds of like 25MB/s... utterly stupid...

The real reason they made the lightning cable and connector? They owned the patent and licensing... so they got ALL the money...no third party cables at lall.... until the govt got involved and shut down apple's growing monopoly (moistly they went after their device locking policy but it included thigns like propreitary connectors and such and used the right to repair laws as a basis of justification)

Suddenly you had all sorts of companies making apple accesories and cables... those $30-$35 lightning connector cables? turns out they don't actually cost that much to make as suddenly you had cable for $10-$20 bucks... all those lightning cable adapters to add things like wired earphones, storage drives or sd cards and peripherals? That stupid white dongle things cost anywhere from $35to$50 from apple... everyone else? Like $15 tops... stupid

THATS WHY APPLE COSTS SO MUCH.... they have ALWAYS over charged for wehat you get... now the m chiups were a game changer for a small time... it kinda reversed that notion.. for once, they had a case for actually having the best stuff... but thats going away now... and there still is zero reason you should be paying $1500-$3500 for a stupid arm chip from apple when you can LITERALLY build or buy your own full system with the latest greatest desktop grade cpu and gpu and ddr5 ram that gets like 4x the overall poerformance of even the best arm setup for the same cost of less...

I can literally make a system with a i9-13900 or Ryzen 9 9950X paired with a nividia 4080 and 64 gb ddr5 6600 ram for less than apples most expensive m chip compouter offering...and its lightyears ahead of anything that mac can do..

I remember seeing an article someone wrote about how they could now game on their m2 mac playing witcher 3 at decently playable performance... i believe it was 1080p at like medium settings across the board and they got like 60 fps... dude... that literallly the same as a friggin ps4...

People get carried away with this stuff and its all thanks to clever marketing..i love iphones... i do... but apple is nothing but a bunch of criminals crooks and con artists... you can't tell me otherwise....

your reply is 100% mixing Apple with Oranges. and no one buys Apple for gaming. so dont compare the gaming performance.

Again I was talking about a cheaper SE version of macbook air , and I think that Apple might produce one.

as for charging alot , if you compare the laptops prices of professional laptops from HP and Lenovo and DELL , you will find the same prices. and I mean business grade professional ones not the cheap ones.
