Hey guys I was wondering what an affordable but good quality gaming headset would be, basically the best bang for my buck. According to my system specs which can be found here: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/ca/en/ho/WF06b/12132708-12133156-12133158-12133158-12133158-80230858-80451103.html my sound card is high definition audio.

My friend recommended these two headsets: 1. http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=16_223&item_id=022996&sid=1713rpfhjphol3blfue99bjrr2

2. http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=16_223&item_id=019979&sid=1713rpfhjphol3blfue99bjrr2

I'm thinking of going for the first headset, I thought it would be best to run it by the community before I potentially waste any money.

If you have any other affordable recommendations feel free to add!

P.S. Try using Canadian sites like the one i provided to find the headset. Infonec.com works too

Thanks!

^THIS!

you can buy both on amazon or just the headset for now http://www.jr.com/audio-technica/pe/AT_ATHAD700/
and a desktop mic like form logitech or something,

Im going the same route but i think im going to buy some Grados SR60i http://www.jr.com/grado/pe/GRA_SR60/

The open design of the two can allow you to comfortably rest them on your neck while listen to some the best quality headphones under 100 bucks that beat headphones 3 times the price!

but remember that the open design can let others hear what your listening too, so keep it low when your trying to be quite, but all of that just improves the quality of the headphones

how do you like the fit on your ear?

Cuz if you want strictly a gaming headset then just go with the name brands IMO, Razer or Turtle Beach
but i'm pretty new the whole scene of quality headphones so take what i say with a grain of salt

Fatal1ty headset has been the best for me..Have tried Logitech and Creative. I like this headset not only for great sound quality but they don't burn your ears after you've had them on for a few hours.
Mic attachment is removable as well. Not sure about Canadian suppliers but heres a general link:

I agree with what others have said. Get yourself a good pair of cans and just purchase a cheap headset or desktop microphone. Wear the cans and wrap the headset around your neck. Much better audio experience than any gaming headset can provide.

Well, you know if you going to spend around 80-90 dollars go with the Gardos SR60i or ATH-AD700s

If you going on a budget then just google up a bunch of reviews for those headsets
I still say if its purely for gaming go with a Razer or TurtleBeach IMO but best Audio quality is going to come from the Grados and AD700s listed in the earlier post

Well, i got to tell ya, all three of these headset have not been getting great reviews from newegg, depends on your budget but just go with the Razer headsets, TurtelBeach or go full out and get the high quality ones that most everyone here has been talking about

yeah, i've heard that, but the ATH-AD700s excel in comfort! with those uber wings! and still better quality, or that what i have read

and cheaper, i think the HD-555 might be out of his price range

EDIT:*also i hear the comfort adjusts to your head, and you can always where them on your neck because of the open design of both the SR60s and AD700s

I'm also in the market for some quality headphones. I'm reading reviews on the ATH-AD700s, and consistently seeing across many sites that they do not adjust well, or at all. I'd much rather wear my headphones on my ears than sit them on my neck and pump the volume.

The more I investigate, the more it seems that the HD-555s are the lowest price quality headphones you can get. Every set I've looked into that's cheaper has some major design flaw.

really what review sites? im not trying to bash you, i just want to read some for myself because all i was able to come across with was that they are an excellent headset, ideal for music and great for gaming due to their ground precision and large sound stage. Superior to much more expensive headsets.

I'm hearing (for the most part) wonderful things about the sound quality. It's the construction of the headphones, the fact that the ear cups don't pivot on the vertical axis to line up veritcally with the side of your head, that I'm seeing on newegg, amazon, and headphone.com.

Basically, what I'm reading is the bass is crap at first but gets good after a hundred hour burn in, but the mechanical design is poor. If I can find a pair to try on before I buy, to see how they fit, then I'll probably go for them.

The AD700s do feel a bit weird at first, in my opinion. The "wings" sit on top of your head, and the ear cups kind of rest against the sides of your head, without really touching your ears. They were my first (and only so far) pair of open headphones so I was used a different fit. I have found them to be VERY comfortable after getting used to them though.

Considering you can get them for less than $100 on Amazon, I really don't think you can do any better.
