Question about a motherboard

im getting confused what PCI is and PCIe

and what 2.0 and 3.0 is

my motherboard is
M3A78-EM

basically im trying to upgrade my gpu but its saying the my motherboard has PCIe 2.0 , and the Gpu that im getting has PCI express 3.0 x16

The only difference between 2.0 and 3.0 is the max speed you will get own when using an SLI or Crossfire configuration. Your GPU is still compatible with your mobo.
