Question Question about a short in PCI-e power connector ?

Good day, I bought some U-shaped PCI-e power connectors, and decided to check the pins for shorts with a multimeter on diode/continuity test setting.

So from pin 4 to pin 8 they all are connected and shorting and from pin1 to 3 are also connected and shorting?
Is this normal for these connectors or are they defective?
I am aware that from 5 to 8 are ground and ground is connected and it is okay, but how does pin4 - sense work?
Shouldn't the +12V pins be isolated and not connected?

Pins 1-3 are +12V and pins 4-8 are ground.

Now, with +12V pins, unless the PSU that you use, has multiple +12V rails, all of the +12V pins are connected to single rail, hence the connection between all of them. And on PSUs that do have multiple +12V rails, none of the multiple rails are within the same power cable. Instead, separate +12V rails expand out of the PSU in separate power cables.

About the "sense" pin, care to give the source from where you got that pinout image?

Looks like sense pins have dual-purpose, acting as a ground, and also telling GPU which connector is connected, so that it knows how much power it can draw.
