[SOLVED] Question about attaching a network switch to a wifi router acting as a range extender?

Hi guys,

Downstairs we have a Virgin Media Superhub 3, which is connected via a pair of homeplugs, to a TL-Link wifi Router. The TP-Link has been converted to act as a range extender (been given the same SSID as the SuperHub 3, been given a unique IP address and had DHCP turned off for it).

My question is this: if I plug a gigabit Ethernet network switch into one of the TP Links LAN ports, will there be any determinantal performance impact on devices plugged into this network switch vs plugging in directly to the TP Link router? More importantly are there any potential technical issues, as you are now three network levels deep, so this got me wondering.

A switch will incur no performance hit vs plugging into that TP-Link directly.

Back in the day when we dealt with hubs you had to watch how many levels deep you were, but with today's switches that's no longer an issue. Adding a switch would be just like adding more ports to the tplink.
