Question Question about backing up data from an nvme

I occasionally need to backup peoples data from an nvme pulled from a failed laptop. I use an orico enlosure to do this, the problem i am sometimes getting, is that when the enclosure is plugged into another machine (usually a windows 10 machine), when i go into the nvmes user folder, i see all the usual folders, except the desktop folder. This has happened to me several times with an nvme, ive tried showing hidden folders, but its not that. Is this an nvme thing? Or security thing? Its just the desktop folder that sometimes is not showing. I would appreciate any advice, cheers.

Can only be a permissions thing.
Not anything related an NVMe in specific.

Scan the drive with WinDirStat while running as an administrator. This usually shows everything that Windows Explorer won't show for some reason or another.
