Hello, im thinking of buing the BENQ EW2440L (my current one is an lg flatron m22g2d).
1-Will i notice any difference between image quality?
2-I will use the monitor for gaming, not competitive but will game a bit. Will this monitor be able to handle it or will ghost or lag?
3-It will cost 179 euros minus 80 or 90 from selling my old monitor, is it worth the deal?

Thank you very much in advance, have a nice day.

Solution
We're always happy to help here. If you don't mind, please report back after you got your new monitor for a comparison, or your thoughts. This is going to help in the future, because this thread can be found using a simple Google search, and sooner or later, someone would wish they knew what you thought of it.
Absolutely is. If you can find the GW2470H for cheaper, then go with that instead, it's a slightly better version of the EW2440L, with added VESA mount support -- but both are based on the same panel. Look at it as a refresh rather than a new monitor.

No, you won't notice any obvious ghosting or lag, basically all modern 60 Hz monitors are built around the same components. TN, IPS, PLS, VA, no real world difference between the four LCD panel types.

All the best!

I dont have much desk space or money or I would go with a bigger one for sure, but what do you think of this one?

Thank you for your help. I found the GW2470H for 159 so 20 euros cheaper do you think it will be even better? The only thing im afraid is poor image quality and ghosting/lag.
And will it be a good improvement in terms of image quality from my current one? This one is good has Tv but it lacks the colour dept and clarity of a pc monitor (in my opinion)

Well... ok... BUT... before you do anything... I would consider just holding off on buying another monitor. I've done that "impulsive buying" thing one too many times with my monitors. I got tired of the 5 year old LCD I had... bought an LED monitor... got tired of that.. bought another one... Part of me wishes I had just saved up my monitor originally and bought the monitor I originally wanted. But in my opinion... going from 22" to 24" isn't really worth it unless the new one has some new kickbutt feature you want or need.

Thank you again, thats really nice i think ill go with that one, since is also cheaper, and do u know if it will improve in comparison with my current one?

Hmmm, thank you for your opinion, I want to change because my current monitor is getting old and it was never a good PC monitor, and since i wont have the money for a 1440p ill stick with the 1080p and after i searched for a while i got the idea that the 1080p "sweet spot" is 23/24'' , i also dont need or have space for a much bigger monitor, and it will be a small increase from 22'' to 24''. (i think the size of my current monitor is enough so i think thats not a problem). Thank you very much 😀

Well, I personally use a projector and my PC monitor is 32", and I'm 2 feet away from the screen, no SDE or moire to be seen. I use it as a photo editing monitor, because my other 4 monitors are too small. And, it's not even 24", they just round up, not that it matters much. The jump from 24 to 27 isn't big though, at all.

It's always best to research, though this particular monitor mentioned can't be beat by any monitor currently on the market, you'd have to spend 2x-3x in order to see any improvements, and even then, won't justify spending any more money. That's the picture alone, but you spend more money on features. Pivot, tilt, height, are very good features to have if you're a photo editor for instance, but not required, it's literally for conveniance.

There are GSync monitors, but that's paying a premium for convenience, not a feature that's required by any stretch -- it's nothing but a niche. If you're interested in IPS, and want to give up the contrast (deep blacks) for slightly (and I mean it when I say slightly, they've come a really far way, I most** all new monitors) better viewing angles.

As far as ghosting is concerned, I can put up a 60 Hz TN, and prove people wrong in a heartbeat. The problem I have is that too many are relying on the advertised specs, or articles. The reason that is upsetting is because neither reflect real world use.

All the best!

I dont have the space or the money for a bigger one and i will just game, i wont use it for much more (besides some work, internet browsing and watching movies) so i will accept you opinion and I will get the GW2470H, thank you very much

I will post, this is why i love Toms Hardware, have a great day and thank you very much.
