I'm sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but does the bluray drive you use actually affect the picture quality? I recently replaced my drive I use as I was having problems with the old one - it skipping a lot - but now that i'm using the new drive - a Pioneer BDR -XDO5TS - I'm sure the picture quality has decreased . The picture seems softer and less sharp.

The drive should have nothing to do with it, at all. All the drive does is read the information and send it to the display device or tv. Sharpness, contrast, color profiles and anything else related to picture quality are properties of the display device, panel or tv settings. Try adjusting your display settings.

Short of that, it's possible that you have a bad cable or connection. Might double check those.

It could also be related to the codecs being used to play the content. Might try installing the K-lite codec pack standard version.

Are you playing this on a computer or using a normal Blu ray player and a tv?
