So, I work with 3D modeling and the software I use decided to switch from my GTX1050 to my intel integrated graphics and stoped working. I managed to fix this by disabling the intel graphics on my device manager. But I also use a second screen to help with reference but now when I connect the HDMI cable to my notebook port, I don't get any video, I think it's because the notebook port is connected to the motherboard, which probably uses Intel Graphics.
Is there a way to use my GPU to display the second monitor using that same port?

Solution
We use USB adapters to connect external monitors when the PC/laptop doesn't have any more video ports. You can get then in almost and output type; hdmi, dvi, dp, vga ...
With the power draw of the 1050 being what it is, laptops/notebooks share the load as much as possible. When you are just running around in windows, that'll use the Intel igpu. Soon as you start a game or other demanding app, it'll kick in the 1050 instead. It's a battery saving feature.

Turning off the igpu, you killed the hdmi output so the port can't be used to register if it needs to turn on the 1050, be extended, copied etc.

Afaik, you can prioritize certain apps, to use the dgpu or igpu, the laptop defaults to igpu use for everything initially.
