Hi everyone!

This is our first attempt at building a custom pc so please kind and bear with us. ;)

We are trying to connect EVGA B5 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply to a Gigabyte Z590 Vision G ATX LGA1200 Motherboard and we are confused.

The PSU manual says to "connect the 4+4-pin EPS 12V cable to the motherboard" and the motherboard has (1) ATX_12V_2x2 and (1) ATX _12V_2x4 port.

Our question is, which connectors on the PSU cable go in to which port (or ports) on the motherboard?

Essentially, we are basically asking, so what gets plugged in and where??? LOL o_O

Solution
Basically you need to use 2 cables from the power supply to the motherboard. They want you to use 1 with 8 pins for the 8 pin socket and a second cable with 4 pins for the 4 pin socket. The cable in your pictures is fine for the 4 pin socket and obviously you only need half of it, the half on the right in your picture which has 2 square components. Then you will need a second cable with all 8 powerlines from the power supply to the cpu 8 pin socket. Connecting both cables with all 12 pins will provide the correct design power.

The CPU EPS cable is split like that for those 4pin ports.
You 'hug em' together for the 8pin port, and use one of the 4pins for the 4pin port - it does not matter which split end you use.

If I use the 8 pin port on motherboard, one of the 4 pin split would have chamfered pins going into square holes,,, is this ok
