I was about to buy MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Gaming PhysX and i think it have G-Sync on it. But i was wondering that i don't have G-Sync on my monitor but can i still play with G-Sync on because of the GPU? or do i need to have G-Sync on both GPU and Monitor?

Solution
You need a monitor with Nvidia's GSync scaler for GSync to work.

Same thing goes with Adaptive Sync: although AS is part of the newer DP standards, you still need a monitor with an AS-enabled scaler to make AMD's FreeSync/AS work on their AS-enabled GPUs.

Without the required support at both ends, things will work in the usual vsync manner.
