im in the market for a new keyboard. but besides the switches i have no idea what other specs should i be looking for? its only purpose is for gaming and thats mostly gonna be FPS valorant to be specific, thanks in advance for any advice.

Solution
razer keyboards are the ones i would go for, besides the switches, they look nice and they are reliable.Keyboards like huntsman, huntsman elite are the most popular ones, and very well reviewed,so go for razer i guess

bruhh its so thin, its really beautiful, but i dont think he is willing to spend 110 for a keyboard or any other keyboard with a price tag of 100$+

The Razer keyboards you suggested are at $100, the Huntsman Elite is almost $200. They are also on the lower end of reliability, I'd go with almost any other brand, including the cheaper Chinese copies like Redragon before I would buy a Razer keyboard.

Switch is the main part, build solidness and reliability are part of the keyboard as well. You need to set a budget, size of keyboard you want and type of lighting on it if any. I like the Kailh Speed Silver switches, smooth and quick to activate https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hyperx...qeB7s24iVyeESW0o8OcaAkh0EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Not a lot of keyboards with that switch though.

You may want to order a keyswitch sampler online since you can't head to a store now to try them.

aight so CORSAIR K70 RGB for 150$ or splurge the extra 50$ and get apex pro and see what this new omnipoint switches are all about.

what do you guys think? the corsair is on sale for 180$ so really if it wasnt on sale its only an extra 20$

you guys think those omnipoint switches are really all the hype its getting or is it a gimmick? everything ive read says it blows away every other speed switch (silver / khaild / cherry mx speed)

does anyone here actually have a pair of those apex pros?

Razer products haven’t been reliable since 2014... RMA rates through the rooooof

I was instantly drawn towards the huntsman / huntsman elite i gotta find its actuate / response times and compare to omnipoint

ive always used them, headphones / mousepad / mouse, the only thing ive never gotten was a keyboard i had been given a decent mechanical one i still use today so its time to treat myself

Does anyone here have the APEX PRO headset and can give it a review tell us how juicy that new tech is

so i learned alot about the various speed switches today as i spent about 4 hours reading several reviews on all of them

the corsair cherry mx speed has an actuation time of 1.2mm and a response time of 5.00ms

the actuation on the apex is 0.4mm and the response time is 0.7 for reference

the actuation on the huntsman switches 1.0m Razer Linear Optical Switch
I couldent find the response time anywhere

for the kailh key switches an actuation point just 1.1mm into its 3.5mm travel distance

here is a pretty good explanation behind their tech and why its the best out there worth a read Omnipoint switch explained

Response times really don’t matter that much it’s more what you like to use. You’re not factoring in switch weight and generally lighter and shallower switches lead to accidental presses. Feel is better than raw input. Remember it’s not a mouse you’re using it mainly for movement anything that requires rapid input should be mapped to a mouse button. For example in overwatch I have my melee and any escape mapped to my mouse.

You won't know how you will like a keyboard by reading numbers. It's like buying speakers based on electronic measuring graphs or knowing if you will like a cookie by reading the ingredients.

I agree on the reliability of Razer products being hit or miss. Over the past 30 years I've had the best reliability with old IBM mechanical keyboards from 1980 :) Actually Steelseries have given me the best reliability in modern times and I love their designs. Their drivers and software are very good as well.

I don't recommend getting keyboards that have a shorter actuation distance. The impact it has on your performance while gaming is negligible, if it even exists at all, and will cause more typos.
