question about geforce and radeon wanting to spend $400 on a card

what a better card to get from gforce or radeon? ive heard that radeon is better proformance to price but they run hot and suck alot of power and geforce runs cooler any ideas anyone? wanting to spend about $400 on a card

gtx 970 wins over the 290x. cheaper, better performance, much less power consumption and heat produced

The GTX 970 is better for most users. The R9 290x does tend to outperform the GTX 970 a little bit if you play games at 4k resolution, but does consume a lot more power and generates a lot more heat. If you're not trying to game at 4k, the GTX 970 is probably the better choice unless you can get the R9 290x for a considerably lower price.
