Question Question about GTX 1080

Hi, i recently ordered a gtx 1080 G1 gigabyte, when i set it up, i noticed i am only getting 30fps on FORTNITE and black ops 2 with a lot of stutter, im not sure if this is because of my pc specs but i just want answers.
Specs:
Intel core i5 7400 3.00 GHz
gtx 1080 G1 gigabyte
8GB hyper x ram
msi pro gaming carbon motherboard
Corsair bronze 500w power supply.

When i check task manager, my memory usage is 2000mb when running fortnite, and my gpu usage is like 10% and under. When i run heaven benchmark on high, i get 60 fps with a lot of stutter on high. I have also noticed a buzzing noise when running the card under load (Which i think is coil whining). The temperature of the card is around 40C when idle and 55-60C when running heaven benchmark.
I am not sure why i cant run games as i have seen others run games with an i5 7400 and a gtx 1080... Any help would be appreciated.

not that im expert but isnt that 500w psu a little bit low for that gpu?

First, your power supply isn't big enough. You need a 600 watt or more for a gtx 1080.
2nd, your CPU is going to limit that 1080. A 7400 is a 4 core 4 thread CPU. I wouldn't pair more than a gtx 1660ti with a 7400.
I would reinstall drivers and operating system.

Ok thank you. So would the psu be the main reason as to why im only getting 30fps?

No, your PSU would cause your system to shut off, not to run slowly.
You may need to run this and then install the gtx 1080 driver:https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
If that doesnt fix it, you may have to reinstall windows. its not uncommon for a new gpu to merit bad performance if ther is a driver conflict.

Would it be better to use my 1060 instead for a month or two until i get new parts??

Yes. Use the 1060 untill you get a new psu at least. A new cpu could help that gpu.
