Question about headset

I recently bought a creative fatality MZ031 headset and at first they were good sound and bass were great for the price but then i realized after playing bf3 for a little while that I couldn't hear shots coming from behind me. I checked a few other games as well only to find the issue persisting, and after a long period of time switching through the same audio options over and over I've run out of ideas. One interesting thing i noticed is a lack of drivers for the headset online and the headset didn't come with a disk. If anyone has any idea whats wrong I'd appreciate the input.

i would buy new cheap head set i mean if you dont want to go through the trouble or take it to a local audio shop
