What games, what resolution, and what settings?
If you purchased a 1080 Ti you would get better performance so, technically, you could say yes. But let us know what and how you are playing first.

Games like GTA V, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Forza Horizon 3.
Max settings and 1080p (my monitor only supports max resolution of 1080p anyways). I don't even think the GTX 1060 can handle 4k that well, at least from what I've heard.
You might not see much of a difference @ 1080p.
Some games have extreme settings/mods, like the Fallout 4 HD texture pack. You may see a difference at that extreme end if you got a faster card. I wouldn't waste my money though.

I'm currently using a i3 6100. If I buy a i7 7700, won't that make a difference?
