I just reformatted my computer, so now I need to reinstall the three
games. I'm wondering, should I install NWN, 1.64 update, then the two
expansions? Or the three games first, then the patch? Or does it matter?

Install NWN, then SoU, then HotU. Then go online and use auto-update.
