Hello gang. I have a question. For legacy systems where one could upgrade to a HT processor and mobo compatible but the BIOS didn't have an HT Enable Disable parameter, does the computer run the CPU in HT automatically?
It was always enabled for me.
But i did not encounter if i could not see enable disae, cause ive had 5 motherboards of 775
775Dual vsta
p5g41t-m lx2/gb
ud3r
G31-s2l
p5q-epu?(dont remember)
Ive never went for that...
I have tested P4 520J numberous times, and always was enabled, no matter which motherboard.
You can check it via hwinfo/hwmonitor or cinebench (hwinfo/hwmonitor you will see 2 core clocks), cinebench 2 squares rendering).
If I remember correctly it also depended on the motherboard. Some boards gave you the option to enable or disable HT in the BIOS while others didn't. The boards that didn't would just enable HT by default if it determined the CPU was HT capable.
I see. I guess what I’m asking, if correctly, Intel’s code in the HT CPU itself is automatically operating in HT mode even at boot when entering the BIOS? For instance if the BIOS did have a parameter for ENABLE / DISABLE, does anyone remember if the BIOS automatically had it set to Enabled by default? DISABLE was always optional?
Thanks guys. Sorry for the legacy questions. I like collecting nostalgic setups.
