Question about low resolution

I have 1280x1024 monitor...im wondering, which is better for low res gaming, is it nvidia or amd??

You just set the resolution. Both are capable of 1080P, so you are downgrading the resolution of both types of cards.

there both great but if you wanna save money than go with AMD, but it all depends on your choice

What do you mean both are capable of 1080P? We don't know which cards are we discussing or what is the rest of the system

All modern graphics cards are capable of at least that resolution.

Even a $70 EVGA GeForce GT 730 has a max resolution of Max Analog : 2048x1536 & Max Digital : 4096x2160.

We are talking about gaming at that resolution, not if the card supports it right?

Yes. But resolution is independent of the graphic cards use.

A mid level graphics card is going to perform better than an entry level card, but both are capable of the minimum resolution that the OP has stated.

Agree, but while that resolution won't matter much to a graphics card, a 1080p and higher can be very taxing on a GPU

im talking about new games such as far cry 4, shadow of mordor, dying light etc..

my specs

i5 2400
6 gb kingston ram 1333
p8p67 le mobo
antec 450W
monitor 1280x1024

That is my point all of theses cards are not going to break a sweat at 1080p OR 1280x1024.

I should point out that 1080p is 1920 x 1080 resolution. It is essentially one step from the OP's monitor.

I would suggest a GTX 750Ti minimum level graphics card for you. It isn't going to be bottlenecked by your processor, but is going to have enough power to play those games. Plus it will have enough wattage from your current power supply.

The R9-270 would be a possibility, but the minimum recommended power supply for that card is 500 watts.
