Question about monitor mounts

Going to ask for a dual monitor mount for xmas. I was wondering though are the stands good? I would feel safe with my monitors on a stand compared to the ones that mount to the desk

The desk mounts are much cleaner. They can clamp or are installed onto the desk itself. So they will stay put.

Multionitor stands rend to have a huge base and defeat the best reason to get a mount, increase eesk space.
