Hello I've decided to upgrade my gpu from Gtx 660 to Gtx 970 (both of them MSI)
I'm pretty confident that it will work well with the rest of my rig:

AMD FX-8350 (CPU)
ASRock 970 Extreme4 (MB)
16GB Ram 1600MHz (RAM)
OCZ ModXStream PRO 500W (PSU)

But I want to make sure im set to proceed with this purchase by asking a few questions.
Will my PSU suffice? The graphic card says 500watt recommended, will I be experiencing any issues with my 500Watt PSU?
And also, the graphic card requires you to have 1 8pin and 1 6pin cord. My gtx 660 requires a 8pin only and as far as I can see there is one 6 pin left available on my psu aswell. I know it must be stupid question but, are the pin slots divided in certain groups making it impossible to use that 6pin slot?
And last, is this card future proof considering its 2016?

opinions appreciated

Solution
Yes, 500w is enough. An important thing to look out for in PSU's is the amperage on the 12v rail. By the looks of it, the PSU has 2 12v rails with 18 amps each.
So unless OCZ have done something stupid, both those PCI-e connectors should be on either rail. That means producing 36 amps, or 432w.
The GTX 970 should need ~28amps.
So basically you're good lol ;) and as long as you have a 6 pin and 8 pin you're good.

Now the performance of a GTX 970, at 1080p you'll be close to maxing every gaming title out right now. I have dual r9 290, but one of my cards overclocked is about equivalent to a GTX 970. In BF4 I get around 75 fps average, and in GTAV I get around 60fps. (GTA is a weird game with FPS though).
So yes you're perfectly fine with...

So yes you're perfectly fine with a GTX 970, I would say it is one of the best cards for this current time.
Think about it this way, it's ~twice the GPU power of a PS4 ;).

-good luck

Thanks for taking for your time to answer my questions. I play many demanding games atm such as The witcher 3, Fallout 4, Gta 5, Just cause 3 and I will be getting The Division for free along with the graphics card. Just wanted to buy a good enough card to keep me above 60 fps on 1080p most of the time :)

I opened my pc to make sure everything was going to fit and checked the PSU again and everything seems okay. I feel relieved
