Hi everyone:

When my son and I built this computer earlier in the year, he cloned my old hard drive with WIN 10. It is legacy bios. I read all the info regarding converting to UEFI from legacy using the windows tool. (mbr2gpt). My question is:

Under boot, I know to switch to UEFI from legacy.

However, under advanced, there is a WIN OS that has two choices: CSM and UEFI. Do I also need to change that (it is currently on CSM)? Nothing I have researched discusses that. Thanks for your help.

it is better to perform clean install windows in disabled csm option in your motherboard, update the motherboard bios to the latest, disable csm, set boot option to uefi: flashdrive name or uefi: flashdrive name, save and exit and proceed...

i already tried to switch to all uefi only in the bios, leaving no legacy thing enabled, without reinstalling windows, and i couldn't boot the windows and once i clean install it on uefi only options (disabled csm), it work, totally windows on uefi 😀
