Question about multiple AMD GPUs in one system (Non-Crossifred)

Hi there!

I had a quick question about what I could expect from running an unusual setup. What I'm (currently) planning is to get an AMD R9 card (Either R9 270, R9 285, or R9 290) and install it into my computer as the primary card, with an old Radeon HD 5670 as the second card, obviously without Crossfire as they're not compatible. The question I had would be if there would be any hardware, or software, incompatibility between these cards that would result in a loss of performance - specifically on the R9 card, it's honestly fine if the HD 5670 wasn't running at full capacity. My current setup is a GTX 260 (which has been overheating and artifacting a lot as of late) and the HD 5670. Obviously, it's not the most optimized setup as I'm pretty sure the GTX 260 has underclocked itself in response to having an AMD card in the system.

It would probably be important to mention that the GTX 260 (and the R9 card) would be connected to a primary monitor (DVI on the GTX 260 and likely HDMI on the R9, both at 1920x1080 resolution), with the HD 5670 running two additional monitors (VGA 1024x1280 and DVI 1680x1050).

Another question would be if this setup would be worth it, or if I should just try to run all three monitors off the R9 card? I don't plan on playing any hugely-graphically-intensive games like Battlefield 4 - mostly games like League of Legends (which already runs at around 100fps on my GTX 260), World of Warcraft (infrequently at best), and several other games that the R9 card, even the 270, would have no problems running, with the most graphically intensive game I would be playing likely being Bioshock Infinite. I play all these games in Windowed or Fullscreen Windowed when possible.

Thanks,
Kayla~

You should be fine with the r9 and the 5670 to power up more monitors. If you want to play on all three use the R9 for all of them as you you can only game on the monitor that is connected to the r9. If you want to game on just one then connect the rest to the 5670.

I would only have games on the primary monitor. I wouldn't have it set up for eyefinity. I have one monitor for skype, emails, forums, articles, etc., one for gaming and photo-editing (my primary monitor), and one for web browsing/videos. You think the combination of the two cards would be best?
