So last year around Christmas time I got a monitor.
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009642&cm_re=144hz-_-24-009-642-_-Product

Today, I got a little pissed off playing a game and lifted up my keyboard. Unfortunately I threw it forward a little, and I know I over reacted, but it caused damage in the front of the monitor.

Basically all the pixels are broken among the bottom of the screen where the windows bar is at and some up the left side of the monitor.

So I decided to look up the warranty and see if there was still any available. I saw that their was 3 years.

I saw that and was just curious that if I got in contact with support what I need to do/ say to receive the warranty.

If anyone can help me out, That would be really appreciated as I don't have any extra money to buy another whole monitor.

While you *might* be able to claim the lower portion of the monitor suddenly became defective, I'd expect your chances of success are <1%.

Considering you'd have to cover tracked shipping to the manufacturer (I'd expect ~$50 or more with insurance) and the chances of a repair/replacement are so slim.... I'd just suck it up for now, learn from it and buy another monitor when you can.

Solution

Thank you for helping me out, I'm mainly asking because I don't really want my parents to find out rn as they would be mad, I havent done this before, and never plan on doing it again, I know what my dad does sometimes is he threatens never to buy one of the persons products again and then they usually do whatever they are asking for them to do.

I mean if I say that my cat got on my desk and knocked it off do you think that I would have a better chance?

I know its not right to lie but I feel like its my only option because its my only monitor ):

Could I say that the screen wasn't fully in place, and that when I applied pressure to the monitor the screen fractured?

Yes, lying is bad.

You could say whatever you want, but there's nothing you can say that would be covered under warranty and would align with the damage you have.

Even if you were to say the cat did it..... they'd claim it falls under either "accidents", or "reckless conduct" (most likely accident).

The "I'll never buy your product again" isn't likely to work when it's pretty clear you broke it.

If I were you, I'd try and take a humorous approach.
Take some pics, make it comical, tweet (or facebook/instagram) the pics to Acer and maybe, just maybe (I can't stress how unlikely this would be) they'll take pity on you and hook you up.

As for your parents.... I'm not sure what to tell you. I'd suggest saving the money up and replacing the monitor (the used market can be a good route too) and then tell them what you did. At least it shows you're taking responsibility for your actions and making it right..... Just my $0.02

Ok, thx again for your honesty
