Hello,

i just bought new pc parts to build my 1st pc but i think i did mistake matching the requirements between GPU and PSU.

i got msi rtx 2080 ti gaming x trio which ask for Power Connector
2 x 8-pin, 1 x 6-pin

the psu i have is Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 850W :
PCI-Express Connector 6 x 6+2-Pin.

is it fine to use this psu to the run the MSI gpu? or should i got another one?

also i used my titan x on this new build yesterday i played game fine , today turned off while gaming and didnt turn on back, i thought its the psu is broke wont power up, i removed the connector from the titan x then the pc turned on, i turned it off and plugged the connector back to titan, push the bottom titan CAUGHT FIRE 🙁 . so i am worry to use my new 2080 ti

thank you.

Solution
That being said if getting a new PSU offers a level of security then I would do it. Look at Seasonic Focus GX or PX, Corsair RM(x), EVGA G1+ or G3.

Your PSU is fine to run the GPU. The only good ThermalTake PSUs are the Toughpower line and you have one of those. For your GPU you would use two of the 6+2 pin in the 8 pin arrangement and then one with the added 2 pins disconnected for the 6 pin.
